In 1998, Guy married Terrence Duckett, and after a decade of marriage, she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Following the divorce, financial hardships emerged in 2009 when she filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy, with a substantial amount owed in back taxes for both her and her ex-husband.
In 2012, Guy faced further complications as Duckett fell behind on child support payments, accumulating nearly $40,000 in arrears. In 2014, a tax lien was placed on Guy in Georgia, adding more to her financial challenges.
In her recent interview with Tamron Hall, Guy expressed that she felt compelled to address these hardships after feeling “forced” to share her struggles. Money, she emphasized, represented security for her and her child’s well-being, not for shopping.
